The Mapuche were the war-like indigenous tribe of southern Chile, famous for their fierce resistance to the Spanish conquistadors. This hut-like, fireside-inspired kitchen-space was adopted by the European settlers at times and is here displayed at a living museum I visited in Chonchi.
