Last week, we joined the pilgrims at Saint Jean pied de port, France (yes, we cheated and went into France) on the most famous route people walk on the pilgrimage to the resting place of St. James' bones otherwise know as the Camino de Santiago Compostela. Some people travel this route as a religious pilgrimage, others to find truth and meaning in life, and others to have a physical challenge.I am not sure what each one of use gained but we certainly accumulated a lot of steps. It was both physically and psychologically difficult to complete but we supported each other.(Awwww) Richard wore through another pair of shoes.Kathy needed frequent stops for pedicures and none of slept too well in the communal accommodations along the trail. We met other pilgrims for countries all over the world and found relief in the many coffee shops and the odd "taberna" as well. In the end, we finish the famous pilgrimage, got our certificate and planned our next leg of the trip. South towards Portugal!!!!
