Hello everyone! How are you all?? Sorry its been such a long time since we have updated the site, all been very busy and not got round to it so we have set aside a few hours now to get photos up so you can all laugh at our hair styles!!
Since we last left you a message we were in Byron Bay and heading up to Surfers Paradise. Surfers wasnt really what we expected, we were expecting a little town on the beach with good surf, instead it was very built up with skyscrapers up to the beach. Wasnt a bad place though, beach was good and we bought a bodyboard...Kelly Slater watch out!!!!
The campsite was a nice place again just on the beach. We met up with 4 girls from Sweden here that we met from Byron and met a couple who had met Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson in surfers, unfortunately we didnt find them!ha!
Jon finally got his cast off while we were here, we all shed a tear seeing the pink cast go....or was it a tear of laughter at the white line he had?!?!
Spent a day at Dreamworld Theme park....Chris sh*t himself as usual with the rides, but was a good day.
Overall we liked surfers, spent most of the time on the beach or by the pool.
We left surfers and headed up to Brisbane to see one of Deans friends from work, Webby who moved to Oz a year ago. Spent a few days there, so a huge thanks to Rich and Sarah for putting us up, we all had a wicked time with you. We went round Brisbane and chilled out drinking!! no change!
We headed up to Noosa Heads after Brisbane with a visit to Australia Zoo on the way! The zoo was awesome, well Chris thought that anyway!! Unfortunately Bindi or Terri werent there but was good nether the less. Noosa Heads was quite a nice little town. We stayed on an estuary and spent a few days on the beach. Bumped into the Swedish girls again. Again spent the time looking round the town and relaxing with drinks in our hands. Were told we could see stingrays at night here, didnt see any though...we recon someone was having a laugh with us ha!!
From Noosa we headed upto Hervey Bay to spend three days/two nights on Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world. We were put in groups of 11, we were with the Sedish girls we had met, 2 girls from Nottingham and a random from France that we didnt like :-S, each group had a 4x4, camp gear and we were set! We had a real laugh here, great time. Saw some awesome views, Chris and Jon spent sometime sitting on a place called Indian Head and saw 7 Tiger sharks swimming below. We couldnt go into the sea due to Shark breeding grounds, jelly fish and sting rays but there were loads of fresh water lagoons and lakes around that we went into. Yet again our good friends Kate Hudson and Matthew McHonagay were on the island filming their new film "Fools Gold" and yet again we didnt see them ha!! The 4x4 driving was great fun, scary at times was a real laugh. Met loads of people on this trip because there were 4 groups of 11 that set off together so we met up at night and set up camp together and had plenty of drink. Went really dark very quickly here though so everyone went to bed about 9 thinking it was about 1am!!!
When we finished on Fraser we had another night at Hervey Bay where Jon and Dean had bed bugs along with another girl in the dorm, this meant the hostel paid for all our clothes to be washed and meant the other girl, Sophia missed her bus so the offer was made for her to join us on the way up to Airlie Beach for the Whitsunday trip which she accepted so the group became a convoy of 9 now!
We got to Airlie Beach after a long drive up north of nothing but trees to look at, not much there, just one street really. We had a good night out in one of the only bars there and then got ready for our sailing trip round the Whitsunday Islands. There were two groups on two Catermarans. Luckily we had great weather and all got burnt!! Even "mahogany" coloured Dean and Jon! The resort we stayed on was class, had a nine hole par 3 golf course, tennis courts, olympic swimming pool, water sports and a few bars, and yes again we had drinks in hands! As you can see from the pictures, we didnt take the golf too seriously and played in our stinger suits!! On the sailing we did two days of snorkelling and also spent a day at Whitehaven Beach...(one of the top ten beachs in the world), had to wear your sunglasses as it was so bright. Overall we had a great trip, and again met lots of other travellers...is good to hear what everyone has done and seen.
After our trip to the Whitsundays we left our hitch hiker and Sweedish and headed up to Cairns where we are now. We have just had our medicals done and we are doing our PADI Diving course from 3rd to 7th. We have 2 days in the classroom and training pool and then live aboad a boat for 3 days/2nights where we do 4 dives with a guide to complete our PADI course and then have 5 extra dives where we go on our own. The company we are doing it with is ProDive, they have a website you can look at.
We hope you are all well and we will speak soon! Probably when we are all in Hawaii after being on a white beach drinking cocktails from coconut shells.....hows the english weather again?!?!!
