21st December 2010: Day 12
Again more sunshine.....are we making you sick yet? lol.......Today we decided after a short walk around to check out Chaweng Beach as we knew that Chaweng was much busier than Bophut. We jumped in a passing Songthaew and headed on over there. Jesus I don't know how many people needed to try and sell us a suit but it felt like every other person was trying to drag us off to a tailors. I still don't get why there are so many tailors here....I mean really!!
After a stressful walk around Chaweng we decided that it was not for us and headed back to the resort for happy hour and to get ready for our evening of entertainment. After refreshing ourselves we headed down to the pool bar for a couple of drinks. Jude was already there and she introduced us to another British couple she had been chatting to. Susie and Nathan were also on their late honeymoon (after having got married in June. I think they were travelling for a month and had already been to Cambodia. They were a lovely couple, really funny. After much chatting we headed down to take our seat on the beach for our entertainment and meal. The entertainment was a traditional Thai band and Thai dancers to start with followed by a one man fire show. The Thai band and dancers were great but Ian and I LOVED the fire show. There were a few moments where we thought he was going to do himself an injury but he was amazing. At one point he dragged Jude up to be his lovely assistant and I honestly was worried for her...lol...videos when we get back.
22nd December 2010: Day 13
Again more sunshine..... :)
During the day we took a stroll in to Fishermans Village for a spot of shopping as it was our last full day on the island. After nearly dying in the heat on our walk we headed back to our cottage to relax. Later on that evening we headed down to the pool bar for happy hour and met up with Jude, Susie and Nathan and we all headed in to Fishermans Village for dinner. After walking past a few tasty looking restaurants we all decided Sushi was the way forward. Man it was tasty!
After paying up we left to go get a beer, a couple of minutes later we had a crazy Thai lady chasing us down the road shouting at us...very confusing. It turned out that Nathan hasn't quite got the hang of Thai notes and put a 20 Baht note instead of a 1000 Baht note.....doh!!
23rd December 2010: Day 14
Ok smug cow has gone now....lol....it rained!! It always seems to be our travelling days when it rains. We met Jude for brekkie and then went to pack before going back to say goodbye. We exchanged details and headed off to check out and catch a ferry to Koh Pha Ngan. Man was it tipping it down. We barely were able to get under the shelter and as time wore on the flood water started to smell more and more suspiciously like sewage....yuk!
Finally we boarded the boat and set off for a very rocky journey....it was great!
We got to Haad Rin safely and headed up to our resort. It was exactly as I remembered it, althought there are a few more shops around it now....not that that's a bad thing. After chilling for a while we headed down to Pirates Bar at the end of the beach.....it is an awesome bar with the beach for a dancefloor and the bar and dj set set back in the rocks. We had a few drinks and then an English couple arrived. They are called Julian and Anna and they are staying at our resort. They have been on holiday for a month and have been coming here for 5 years so had loads of great recommendations for things to do. I think we drunk until around 1:30am....and man were we drunk....Chang is evil!!
24th December 2010: Day 15
Praise the lord it was back to being gloriously hot weather again. Today we went to Tongsala to do a bit of shopping and have a mooch around. It was really warm and we were cooking!! After purchasing a necklace each we headed back to our resort. Once we got back we went to Art Coffee Shop which Anna and Julian recommended. It is the most amazing place and does the most incredible coffee!
After enjoying our coffee we headed for a massage, after an hour and a half we emerged feeling brand new. For our evening entertainment we were heading in to Tongsala to watch a Muay Thai fight. We had ringside seats which meant we were sitting in the splatter zone. When we arrived we realised we were sitting literally right at the edge of the ring....awesome. There were 7 fights and of those 5 resulted in a full on knock out. It's actually seriously hard core and the Thai guys are so fast!!! At one point one of the fighters got knocked clean out of the ring on to the concrete below, but fair play to him he got back in and ended up winning the game.
25th December 2010: Day 16
Ok so Christmas day in near 40 degree heat is just plain wierd!! It doesn't feel like Christmas at all. We headed to Haad Rin during the day for a spot of lunch and shopping for pressies, it was pretty busy and the whole place was full of broken people. There was even one guy in one of the bars with a drip attached to him!!
After our mooch about we headed back to the resort for beers and chilling before heading out to the Full Moon party. We arrived at the Full Moon party around 10pm and it was actually much quieter than we imagined. We got a beer and checked out the mentalists playing skip rope with a flaming rope....that was actually bloody hilarious. Some people were just epicly bad and the guys swinging the massive rope couldn't help themselves but try and trip people up or hit them with the rope. After a few hours we decided to head back as we weren't that fussed on getting too drunk....especially in this heat!!
