Home. It's been just short of a year since I left England. A few days ago I started to wonder and worry a little. I suppose it was a combination of wanting to go home not wanting to go home and fearing what I will find when I get there! I know it wil be hard to fit into the day to day regime of sedentary life worrying about small domestic things. I've become so used to the broad sweep of the world, to be in one culture or country at one moment to immerse myself in it and then in a few hours or days move onto another week after week has been absolutely incredible. I have been on the move for so long I've had so many fresh, startling, stimulating things to see, smell, hear and experience life will never be the same again and it will be so hard to stay still but I am so content I did what I did and lived to tell the tales and boy there are many tales to tell!!
I landed at Heathrow yesterday at 6.30am after an interesting drunken flight back from Jo'Burg (Thanks Chris!) I rang my Mum, Dad, Nan (on her 92nd birthday!) and some other folk before the seatbelt sign was switched off but I'll admit I really can't remember all that was said and I apologise for waking you all up!! Marcus called me to say he was at the wrong terminal then I turned around and naturally he was stood behind me! We then went back to the flat to see Anne and wait for Nicole to return home I passed out on the sofa and dreamt of flying away again!
Nicole came back after work and got the shock of her life so it all went to plan! I now feel as though I haven't been away and I hate it. If I could I would get straight back on a plane to anywhere!! It's so tempting as my rucksack is here and I can see the planes flying over this flat to Heathrow! I could become Tom Hanks and live in terminal one but I think my family would have something to say about it!!
I've logged on today to wrap this trip up but to be honest I can't. I'll have to do it in a few days as I'm not in the best of moods and I want to end this chapter of my life/blog on a happier note!! So Marcus and I are now off to shop as I only have a pair of flip flops to wear I'm off out tonight in London and I don't think I'd get very far in them!
I'll be back soon with a closure to what has to be the best year of my life thus far....
See you all soon
