According to the University's Web site, "King's College and Marischal College were united to form the modern University of Aberdeen in 1860." It's funny that the "modern" university was founded in 1860. Anyway, Marischal College is in downtown Aberdeen. The building is still used for graduation, but other than that the University doesn't use it anymore. I believe the city of Aberdeen uses it for various things. It is amazing--and huge.
