Hey All
Since we are not travelling with Kyle I guess I have to write a little something on this blog every now and then to keep you informed. Meg and I are currently in beautiful Venice where a full pizza is cheaper then using the internet, so I will apologize ahead of time if this is short and to the point.
After leaving Edinburgh we had a quick 2 day visit with our second family down in Manchester before we headed to Paris to begin our adventure. It was very nice to see Steve, Carol, Sarah and of course George and Annie (sorry Jen we missed you). We arrived in Paris on the 2nd of July and soon realized that our hotel was about an hours walk outside the city centre. Needless to say we did a fair amount of walking as it was cheaper and I needed to drop a few pounds so I would be beach worthy once we hit the French Riviera. The highlight of Paris was July 5th Megs 23rd birthday in which I took her to the top of the Eiffel Tower followed by a lovely dinner in the city. We also watched the lighting of the tower from the big park( dont remember the name) - yes I know quite romantic.
Following paris we spent some time in Tours. Not alot happening there but we did meet a fellow traveller who was on his way to meet his Canadian girlfriend who happened to live in mississauga (we didnt know her - sorry for the build up).
After Tours we went to Lyon, which despite most of its critics or the ones I have spoken too, it was very nice. We ate dinner everynight which consisted of a baguette with some cheese or spread of some kind, by the river while the sunset - yes very romantic again which means more points for me.
Our last stop in France was Nice which we both can agree was the best part of France. It was hot and sunny everyday and our hostel was situated 15min from the beach. The only downfall about nice is that the beach is very rocky, well pretty much all rock but the water is ridiculously blue and the atmosphere is definetly bumping. We met a bunch of people at the hostel that enjoyed a good party so we tiped the scales on the budget a bit and bought the overpriced beverages at the bar. We also ventured on a couple day trips out to Cannes where the beaches were sandy and Monaco where the entire city revolves around money - definetly the lifestyle of the rich and famous.
We are currently in Venice now which is amazing and nothing like we have ever seen before. We have two more days here before we head to Florence. Sorry I couldnt go into more detail about where we have been and the people we have met but we will save those stories for when we get home. We hope you are all doing well at home. Kendra goodluck in Vegas we know you'll be great. Talk too you all soon.
Much Love Luke and Megs
