Los Angeles! L.A.! City of Angels! Southland! Lotusland!
Many nicknames for this place. So far I just have to agree to the statement that Los Angeles is not just a city. It is a name for an area with a whole bunch of citites. It is so big and so stretched. I am glad that I have several days here to explore. I like to explore by foot which may not be possible in this cause, not to do it completely without any vehicle. However, so far I've been walking around in my area, no I mean in my city Santa Monica and it is just amazing! Don't feel unsafe and lovely little shops, cafees and so close to the biggest and longest beach I have ever seen. One day I walked south to the Venice Beach and just kept on going. Came back to my city after several hours. Yesterday I walked in the other direction, towards a place called Malibu. I even went up northeast on a street called Montana Avenue with many shops and cafees. I did that for 30 blocks and then went back on another street down to Santa Monica. Soon it is time to do Hollywood, Downtown Los Angeles and Chinatown and for that adventure I will capulate and take the bus. I estimated the distance up to Hollywood to at least 25 km so I decided to go by bus which also seems to be quite convenient.
Met some interesting people as well in my hostel. And the weather kind of surprised me. I didn't expect any miracolous heat but it is cold. During the day when the sun comes out it is ok but most of time I freeeeze. So today I had to buy a pair of pants since I seemed to be one of the few walking around the street wearing shorts.
Have a couple of days left before I head over to the eastcoast which will be my last stop for this trip. Talked to my friend Sofia in New York via internet the other day and she told me it was almost 0 degrees! Awesome dude!
