After a much needed long nights sleep in the welcome comfort of Horombo Huts which we again negotiated a $15 per person price instead of sleeping in the tents we all managed some breakfast. After a very cold night at Mawenzi Tarn Camp left at 8:20 for School Huts. This proved to be a difficult days trekking, not too steep but the landscape was baron & almost lunar like. A disturbed night due to rain followed by extreme cold eventually gave way to a warm, sunny morning. None of us were feeling too great due to tiredness & effects of altitude sickness. Up at 6:00am cold but clear sky. Breakfast of porridge, omelette & bacon. Sun soon came up a temperature rose quickly.
