Went to the Dubai World Cup race meeting one of the UAE's biggest events. As with everything here it's big extravagant and totally over the top!
Horse racing was secondary to the pose factor and believe me there were some poseurs (see gallery of pics I joined in!).
Day started at 14:00 and went on in to the wee hours but we cut out about 23:00 before Toni Braxton started catterwailing like a wounded baboon on crack.
We were in the Aprons at the Bubble Bar where all the fun is and even the people in private boxes came down to join in. I have never seen so many Jerobaums of Champage being consumed in one place and at AED4000 (£670) a go!
Absolutely must do once in your life if you are in Dubai, but if you go for the racing you will be disappointed as no betting, races are not announced and the screens are too low to see past all the umbrellas......
I managed to get on the winner of the Dubai Duty Free race but as my iPhone died after race 3 I didn't get on the World Cup winner we picked amongst 3 others we couldn't get a bet on. Still a good profit in the end.
There was a dreadful incident in the 2nd race where Fox Hunt broke his leg right in front of us very distressing he had to be destroyed.
Hope ye all enjoy the pics sadly as iPhone died only shows the daytime shots as when it got dark and they had fireworks etc the place and the atmosphere were truly spectacular!
