Hi all,
Apologies for the delay in writing something new, we've done so much in the past 2 weeks I don't even know where to start!
Our first day with Nikk and La we went to the Great Barrier Reef, La and Em dived and I snorkeled & went in their submarine - it was absolutely AMAZING! I never imagined how beautiful and incredible it would be, I saw a turtle which was so beautiful and the others on their dive saw loads including a stingray!
Next day we had our Whitsundays sailing trip (3days, 2nights sailing around the islands) - this was awesome, really chilled and the scenery was beautiful. We stayed on an island called South Molle, our 1st evening was quite drunken so we decided to pay the resort complex a visit the second night where we played Bingo! However the bingo caller hated bingo and was awful so I stepped up and became the bingo caller for the evening!!! Surprisingly very fun!
After a few days sailing we were back to Airlie beach and on the Greyhound bus to Hervey Bay for our 3 day 2 night Fraser Island trip.
We had self drive 4wd which meant we did it all ourselves, our group was us and Marluse from Holland, and 4 Denmark guys. Lara drove on the 1st day and all was going well until we didn't see a washout (basically the sand creates cliff type things and some are fine to go over but some are massive, you have to go over really slowly) and it was huge, by the time we saw it, it was too late and we just had to go for it. We got over it but it was very scary and made us very cautious for the rest of the trip. Another group from our company had done the same but hadn't let down their tyres so they busted 3 tyres and the car and had to pay $1000 between them so we were pretty lucky! But moving on from the drama we went to Lake Wabby which was beautiful, weirdly we bumped into Katie and Jemma who Em and I were on our Thailand trip with which was awesome! After that we camped up for a night under the stars and a sandy BBQ! The stars were AMAZING - I saw 4 shooting stars and have never seen the sky like it. The 2nd day we headed to Indian head which is basically a cliff with an amazing look out point and had a big day of driving. And the next we went to Lake Mackenzie which again was beautiful. All in all an awesome few days! Our last night in Hervey Bay we went to a quiz (I know what you're thinking, Bingo & Quizzes these girls are crazy!) where we came 3rd, it was a completely 'local' quiz and a old woman who didn't like that we'd beat them called us Teenyboppers on the way out! Lol! Very funny…
After Hervey Bay we headed to Noosa - however we missed our Greyhound as we got the times mixed up so ended up hiring a car and driving down which ended up being much more fun and relaxing. Noosa was cool, very affluent and picturesque. We had Lara's birthday here so had a couple of nights out and also went to Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin's) from here. The zoo was brill and Koalas are officially the cutest things I've EVER seen!
After Noosa we Greyhounded it to Brisbane where we had just one afternoon and one night to explore, was nice to be back in a big city after being in small towns for a couple of weeks. Here we just did a spot of shopping and a bit of drinking, went to a club called 'the family' which is apparently the best club in Oz.
Then Surfers paradise which is basically like Great Yarmouth with surfers - not great…!
Now we're in Byron Bay which is definitely all of our favourite place in Oz so far, it reminds me of a town/surfer version of Glastonbury! Very hippy, relaxed, chilled out atmosphere - absolutely love it! We're staying in a caravan/cabin on a campsite as all the hostels are booked, but it's actually really lovely. Have one more night here then a night in Port Macquerie then Sydney!!
So hopefully that's got you a bit updated! Hope you're all fabulous and have an amazing Xmas, miss you all…
Lots of love,
Kelly & Emilia xxxxxxx
