Before we left this morning we decided to drive down a track from the campground to have a look at the ocean. We got to a fork in the road, left 4wd only, right return track back to camp, so we went left. This track became very sandy with huge holes where other four wheel drives had been bogged but it was at a point of no return, so the Zuki kept going when suddenly the top box came sliding forward over the windscreen. We came to a grinding holt!! From all the bouncing through the deep sandy holes the roof cross-bars had come away from the side-rails causing the top box to drop down, scratching the roof as it came off. The top box was still attached to the roof cross-bars, hmmmm, not good! We removed the top box and while I started digging the sand away Kellie let all the tyres down and the boys collected sticks to put under the tyres. It was a fairly easy retrieval, refitting the top box was the most time consuming! After pumping up all the tyres we hooked up the caravan and continued our journey along the Great Ocean Road. The weather today wasn't great but at least it didn't rain. It was very busy on the road today. There were plenty of crazy drivers along the way, mostly coming around blind corners on the wrong side of the road! We stopped for afternoon tea in Apollo Bay and then continued on through to our overnight stop in Geelong. We have booked for three nights at a caravan park in Melbourne about 15 minutes from Rob and Cathy's place.
