69 days and counting! Flights are booked, backpacks bought, and vaccinations done! Our first flight is 28th of July from Heathrow to Bangkok, stopping off in Doha (wherever that is!) then we have until the end of November (4 months) to travel south east Asia before we fly from Bali to Darwin where we then have oz working visas for a year.
We have budgeted about £7000 for this part of the trip and are hope to make some more money in oz so we can continue our adventure to New Zealand, Fiji and the us!
So far we have booked 4 nights in bangkok, I've been told this is too long but our hotel has a pool so hopefully that will make a difference! Then on the 3rd of August we are planning to get the night train and boat to Koh Tao where we are doing our padi open water course which should take 4 nights, then on the 8th we are travelling to koh phanghan for the full moon party on the 10th! The rest is unplanned but we want to do the rest of the islands, followed by Cambodia Vietnam and Laos, Northern thailand, Singapore and Malaysia, Indonesia and Bali!
Vaccinations - we decided to get all the free ones (of course) plus hep b and malaria tabs. So expensive but hopefully worth it, doctors try and offer you more but at £150 each we only did the absolutely necessary ones!
My backpack is a hand-me-down from my cousin who travelled around Asia for 3 months, so I don't know much about it except it was pretty expensive, pretty big and bright purple!!
Abouts us! - I'm 21 and I've just finished university, studying childhood studies and I'm travelling with my boyfriend Elliot straight after graduation. We haven't done any travelling before but me have done a few seasons abroad between us so hopefully we will be ok when it comes to budgeting, and living in squalor :)
Wish us luck!
Katie
