Mong Kok Markets, Causeway Bay & Nightlife - 26th November
Slow start to the day feeling spaced out and red sleepy eyes - must of been jet lag! About midday, Caleb and I took the MTR into town - destination Mong Kok markets. My plan was to have a go at haggling - a must do in Asia. Much of the stuff there was the same though and I'm not a fan of rip-offs, so I didn't end up having a haggle. The market vendors can get quite aggressive though - Caleb rejected buying a tie off one lady and walked off with this lady hanging off his arm "I do cheaper for you!". He had to tell this lady several times "let go of me!" before crazy lady did - I found that quite intimidating and was quietly relieved when we got out of the market street.
I then went back to my favourite shopping mall at Causeway Bay to kill a couple of hours before watching the Causeway Bay rugby team play. Post rugby game it was time for the nightlife - was so excited!!! On way to MTR, stopped for some dinner - panfried noodles with seafood and olive and blackbean sauce :) and even managed to eat with chopsticks!
Had drinks at a couple of bars - such different nightlife here. No ID checks, you get seated at a table and order drinks from a menu, and you can buy smirnoffs and beer etc from the dairy and drink these out on the street. We then went to a bar in Wan Chai (the less classy area of HK apparently) and met up with the rugby boys and a pub that was like a cooler version of Empty Vessel in Palmy. Dancing on the bar bench is normal, so is dressing up, and instead of WAGs the drink here is jagermeister in a test tube - only 10HKD! Loved the nightlife in HK!!
(Was going to update for today's adventures in Stanley and Victoria Peak but soooo tired, so will do later!)
