We arrived at Hervey Bay on Friday after a lovely time in Sydney. We spent Friday and Saturday exploring the bay and went on very long coastal walks along the Esplanade. On Saturday evening we headed to the boat club for dinner. It could only be described as a mix between butlins and camber. Good job barry and I have got a sense of humour! We couldn't stop laughing the whole time we were there and were very pleased to return to our hotel.
Today we have had a fabulous day visiting Fraser Island. We were picked up and headed over to Fraser island by barge. When we arrived at the worlds largest sand island we walked through the rainforest. We then went to Lake McKenzie where we had a swim in the crystal clear lake (and took lots of photos). After a buffet lunch we went for a drive on our 4wd bus along 75mile beach which is also the main highway of the island. Along the way we saw dingos. We stopped at the Mehano ship wreck, which has been there there since 1935. It was off to Eli Creek after this and treated ourselves to a Fraser island scenic flight. The flight went all over the island and was great to see from a birds eye view. We also spotted one of many sharks swimming close to the beach. We hopped back on the bus and headed back to the barge for our return. The sun was setting over the bay and we spotted dolphins playing in the water. We have had a fantastic time in Hervey Bay and we are off to Brisbane tomorrow. And it's my birthday!! :o) missing you all kind of.... Xxxx
