Hi everyone sorry this blog has been a while coming, had trouble updating here. We have been doing an organized tour through Cambodia and are loving it. Was a long drive from Bangkok to Siem Reap through the overland border, about 8/9 hrs but had 10 other people to get to know so wasn't so bad. On entering the border we all had to have a medical clearance and our temperature checked, which considering its reaching 35 degrees here seemed abit odd- they obviously didn't like the look of graham as he was being probed in the ear and forehead for ages! Siem Reap is a town which is pretty much there for visiting the temples of Angkor and what a day that was. We did sunrise to sunset which meant getting up at the crazy hour of 4am...help! But it was incredible and totally worth it, won't bore you all with the facts and figures as we're such bubbles of information now you'd hardly reconise us! Watching the sun come up over Angkor Wat was something i'll never forget and think it will take alot to top that. Another highlight was the Tomb Raider temple where the jungle and tree roots have grown and broken through the stones and created what looks like a hollywood film set. Although it was baking hot and exhausting we loved every minute. Next afternoon we visited a floating village, what a life it must be living on a floating shack, going to a floating school and then in the rainy season they move everything upto the mountain and live there for a few months- Relocation relocation!! Cambodia is definatly different to thailand, I think its alot poorer and they have a terrible history so tourism only started in the last 10yrs. 50 % of the population is under 16, which means you can't go anywhere without the local kids selling you anything for "$1 dollar Sir" "what's your name" "where are you from" etc, but they are so gorgeous we must have added a few kilos of bracelets/scarves to our rucksacks already! Everyone in our group are really nice and a good laugh, our guide Limney is great and the Angkor beers have been flowing!
