Ok so its been a long time since I last managed to make a blog entry. Internet in America was stupidly expensive, about 2GBP for 15 min, so Im a little behind and probably wont be able to remember it all, but Ill try!
After leaving Banff we continued onto Calgary and stayed the night there in a motel. We entertained ourselves by dying out hair silly colours since there isnt much in Calgary. Steph went back to her red streaks and Sally also went red! We returned Thor the next day and got a flight to San Francisco.
I loved San FRANCISCO! I didnt really know what to expect, having never been to America before but I loved it. Its quite a clean city and all the buildings are pretty. The trolly/tram things are fun too, you can hang onto the outside! So the first day we went down to Fishermans warf, had a wander around and then went to see the Golden Gate Bridge. Its as impressive as it looks in the pictures, absolutely huge! We waled across it one way but had to get a bus back the other way! That night was St Patricks day so we had a big night out with face paints and green clothes. The next day we visited Alcatraz. The boat across wasnt great with a hangover but it was well worth going. Its an impressive place and the tour is really well done. The views of the city are beautiful too.
The next day we went to Golden Gate Park and went rowing on the lake there. We werent great at it but it was fun to try! We spent the afternoon wandering around the hippy-style district before going back to the hostel to get an early night as we had to be up for 6 the next day to go to Yosemite.
Yosemite was so beautiful. We went on a guided tour so everything was explained to us. We saw the bridalveil falls, a really thin yet high waterfall that looks like a brides veil, the half dome, el capitan and Yosemite falls. It was a long but fun day with lots of brilliant views.
The next day we spent the day on the train to LA. The train was amazing! So spatious and comfy, which considering we were spending the day there was a good thing! When we got to LA we found a cheap hotel past its peak and pretty much went straight to bed! The next day we got the bus down to Venice beach and spent a lazy day there. There were lots of interesting stalls and shops, and the beach was nice too. We the met up with Stephs sister and made our way to the Hilton!
The Hilton is just as I thought it would be. Very posh, amazing beds and bathroom, and lots of cool free stuff! We didnt have long there before going out to the Steel Panther gig, which was just crazy! It was more like a stage show than a gig and so so much fun.
Since we only had one more day in LA we decided to do the typical touristy stuff - the star walk, Hollywood sign, the observatory and we also visited Bel Air.
So the next morning we had an early flight to Ecuador but had an 8-ish hour stop over in Panama. We decided to travel into Panama city for a little while so I got to see central America, even if not for long! It was so hot, and we were so tired after many many nights of little or no sleep though that we didnt do much there.
Late yesterday we arrived safely in Ecuador. We have a nice hostel and are enjoying how cheap the food is here! Today we spent the day wandering around Quito, mainly around the main plazas and government buildings. Its aparently the second highest capital in the world and a couple of us have been suffering a little because of that so weve been taking it slow
Tomorrow we travel to the Galapogos islands for a 5 day stay so I wont be able to phone or get online at all for at least that long. I cant wait though! It should be absolutely amazing as its one of the most diverse places in the world and has an interesting history too.
Ho´pefully Ill be able to update a little more reguarly now as the internet shoulld be cheaper, but that depends on how often I can find it!
