As we say farewell to Sabah I simply had to write one last post. No matter where we went there was an abundance of colour from the many beautiful flowers that we saw. The colours, shapes, textures and scents were all so diverse. We saw them in the botanical garden, in forests, in hotel gardens, along the side of the road.....
According to the WWF Borneo is conservatively estimated to contain 15,000 plant species - a diversity that rivals the African continent's - and may well have the highest plant diversity of any region on Earth. Carnivorous plants, the world's largest flower and trees that can reach 60 metres are all part of Borneo's extraordinary tropical vegetation.
I am no botanist so most of the names escape me but we saw a multitude of orchids, pitcher plants, water lilies, wild giner, pink maidens and bouganvillia to name a few . Of course we saw many Hibiscus - Malaysia's nationalflower but were not fortunate enough to see the Raffelsia in bloom.
There is something about flowers that simply brings a sense of joy and happiness putting a smile on your face. Looking at flowers is one of lifes pleasures
Goodbye till my next adventure........
