hey everyone!
These past few weeks we have been busy and not so busy! We went to a hill station called OOty which was quite cold. To get up there we had to take the 'toy train' which took about 5 hours but is apparently the most scenic route and it really was! The views were wicked of all the tea plantations and everything. We also saw lots of monkeys on the way up! Ooty itself is a really pleasent town we really liked it! It kinda reminded me of ireland how it was all green and hilly. But still very dirty with rubbish everywhere. The market there was also great. One day we did a trek with a guide and some swedish people. The guide used to be part of one of the tribes that lived on the mountains but is now outcasted because he didnt marry within. But they still let him visit and so he took us to his friends houses, the children didnt relly like white people though! We saw some wild buffalo and he taught us a lot about eucalyptus trees and the natural forests. At the end when we were walking back a truk carrying tea leafs picked us up and we got to sit on the back. We were histerically laughing cos we looked so funny and we were just bouncing around. It has deffinately been the best mode of transport we hve taken so far though! One day when we bumped into jamie and ruben we did horse riding aswell which really killed our arses too. I got the evil horse that kept biting kates le and randomly galloping off at will! I was laughing because of the lack of control i had and because i scared for my life and everyone else was laughing at me! But it was fun.
From Ooty we went to Mysore on a very bumpy bus ride and had to stay a night there. It wasnt all bad though because we got o stay at the ritz (swnaky i know). It was still really cheap though and the service was really good. It was slightly strange though not oonly because it had a hot shower but also because the staff were always wanting to do something for you, we could imagine it back in colonial times. All there was to do in mysoe though was to see the palace, so thats what we did!
(Before mysore we went to Wayanad national park and saw some wild elephants and we did two long walks. One took us to some caves and the top of a mountain with stunning views of Kerala. The other took us to a stunning waterfall)
From Mysore we got a night bus to Hampi. Hampi is a really starnge place with loads of temples and old stone ruins. We saw most of the temples in a day when we hired a bike. The other days we were just chilling and wondering and having dinner with australian simon, an isreali called Ido, Two dutch guys called Wilco and Arnie, and a guy from Bristol. The stuff there was really cheap so a got a few bargains lol. But we left afetr 5 days to go to Goa (woop woop). So now we are in Palolem beach. Theres quite a few people we know here and the beach is lovely. We've got a nice little set up in a beach hut behind a restaurant on the main beach. So all is well!
We will probably be here a few more days but Goa for maybe another week or so.
lots of love xxx
