After 44 hours in transit we finally arrived in Bangkok last night! Yay! Our taxi dropped us off at the end of a walking road full of hostels, shops and backpackers galore. We wondered down the Rambutri road area and eventually found our hotel. The roads were packed with people eating, shopping, drinking and getting road-side Thai massages. It was already 11pm here and to fend off any further jet-lag we decided to call it an early night. Our room is very small, 2 twin beds pushed together, the sink sits over Kate's bed while the tiny bathroom has an " open-concept shower" aka the bathroom is the shower. Convenient if you want to take a shower while sitting on the toilet.
This morning we woke up around 9 and wondered around the corner to find the restaurant for our complimentary breakfast. Eggs and toast for Cron and pancakes for Kate. Good luck losing those 15 pounds ladies. After a few hours perusing the street vendors and shops in the area we're back on Rambutri road at a hotel/restaurant bar hangout drinking jug-o-juice smoothies and checking out the hotty backpackers. This aft we're going to stay out of the afternoon heat and do some planning for our next leg up to Chiang Mai to meet Sarah. Kate's considering a much needed haircut, the going rate is about 100 baht (3 dollars) as Courtney so aptly pointed out a three dollar haircut is maybe not the safest bet and then in all her sensibility suggested we both just get bowl cuts (ode to Dixie's childhood) to help deal with the heat. We're loving Thailand so far and will write more later!
Tata for now,
