K+K Travel Adventures
Well, we arrived safely to Scotland only after a ten hour flight, seats that were ten times too small and a few bottles of wine. Needless to say we were in dire need of a few beers when arriving and instead of using the three hours of free time we had to see Edinburgh before our god-foresaken train to Banchory, Kirsten and I shared a few beers in the park right of princes street. After our train arrived almost an hour late we met our host, Matt, who took us straight the stag--a local pub in Banchory. Kirsten and I really made legends of ourselves after she spilled a beer on the groom and I (after having a little too much to drink) sleep walked into Matt's mum's room at 4 in the morning.....
There's always a hangover included when you party with scots but we made to most of our day by going swimming in the river not to far from matt's....i really took a nose dive in after tumbling over rocks on my ass probably still drunk from the night before.
The barbeque was amazing at Meg and Calum's we got to relax and get to meet those from both sides of the pond. Once again everyone returned to the stag to enjoy a few beers---let me tell you the scots party till sun up!!! There is nothing quite like walking home at 4 am with the sun up. We tried to start an early game of croquet but Matt was not up for it....probably because he sick of me beating him at his own game.....after being forced to share a bed with one of matt's friends because people were "busy" i got five hours of sleep and had to venture to a wedding the next day....
The wedding was also amazing. Meg looked beautiful!! And of course so did the kilted scots. I had to stand up in front of the entire church and read a poem called forever and today.....although i feel honored to have read for Meg's wedding I was in tears and blushing the entire time.....the reception was great. Kirsten and I bruised ourselves with the celdyh (not sure how that's spelled) dancing. I dont think I have been turned and twisted so many times......my arms are still sore. Trying to avoid gettiing yet another hangover I sat peacefully in the bus on the way home listening to a bunch of drunk scots sing all the national anthems....not music to my ears but i was well rewarded after they decided to show off their kilt flipping skills......
the party never ends and even after hours of dancing everyone went to dj's (the local club) for some dancing and more beers. Being emotional from the wedding and seeing all the couples off I broke down and left to make a phone call to chris....but only after falling down a few steps and searching aimlessly for what seemed to be the only phone in banchory......
Kirsten and I said our tearful goodbyes to our new found family in banchory and hitched a ride with our friend steve for yet another night in edinburgh. The drive to edinburgh was amazing and beautiful. Our friend steve took us a bar called Kohl's where we played a little game......close your eyes and point at the drink menue......what do i get???? ABSINTHE!!!!! It didnt live up to my expectations as it only burned my throat and I did not see any green fairies.....damn! After Kohl's closed we ventured to espionage, a three floored dance club, but our time there was short as we were all exhausted and kirsten and i had to make out noon flight back to london.
kirsten and i said good bye to all our seattle and scotland friends and steve graciously gave us a lift to the airport. edinburgh is amazzing and i am sure that i will return soon....next summer maybe?
