After a short bus ride from Noosa, wearrived in Brisbane at lunch time, and Nat and I were lucky to find a twin room in a hostel, as almost everywhere seemed to be full. Meanwhile, Nush had some free nights accommodation to use up, so she stuck with her Fraser Island gals. The hostel Nat and I stayed in was out of the centre in a nice little suburb with lots of boutiques and cafes that we wandered past that afternoon on our way to the supermarket, wishing we had enough money to buy a hot chocolate and a cake from each one!
On Sunday we got up early to go into the city so i could go to the doctors and finally get my stomach bug sorted out. Unfortunately we could only book an appointment for the following morning, so we walked through the city, stopping to watch some kind of parade, and looked round one of the markets by the river. From there we had lunch in the botanical gardens, and then did a bit of shopping before crossing back over the river, along which was an area called the South Bank Parklands, where we saw the famous artificial beach, and wandered round another market where Nat bought some pretty jewellery.
On Monday we got up early again for my doctors appointment, and for $60 i discovered that what i had could be very serious and potentially life threatening, but i wouldhave to have tests done to determine what i had. Great. So Nat and i changed our plans so we'd arrive in Sydney in 2 days time (2 days earlier than planned) and spent the rest of the day wandering round the Queensland Museum (for free, woo) and then caught the late bus down to Byron Bay.
Nush here: I left Kat and Nat as my uncle lives in Brisbane so i needed to get intouch with him and he was kind enough to put me up for the week. A day or so before this was spent walking around the city and doin the usual city stuff like going to see the botanical gardens with the girls and Stu, a scowser i had met in Cairns and along the way! when i managed to get hold of Mittu mama i checked out of my hostel and he came to pick me up. He had unfortunately injured his ankle and would be out of action for that week but it was lovely to see both him and sonia, and they made me feel so at home! they pointed me to the best things to do whilst being in Brisbane, and took me to Mount Kooltha that night to get a picture of us with the city lights in the background
The next day Mittu suggested i get the ferry ride which takes you round the city, which was a lovely idea and meant i got to see the city from the river, and was a beautiful sunny day as well! That ngiht we went out to a Malaysian restaurant and had some gooooood food! The next day was a nice chilling day, and that evenin we went to Nandos ( which i was very happy about) and then went to see Kung fu panda!!! was awesome! The day after Mittu and Sonia dropped me to Lone Pine, which is a koala sanctuary. I got to see dingos, birds, reptiles and of course koalas, and i got to have a cuddle with one of them! which was lovely, like cuddling a fury baby! and i got to feed the kangaroos, they literally came and ate food right out of your hand! The next day i hopped on a bus and was off to Byron bay....
