Hey Everyone,
Hope you are all well? Well as you are all probabaly aware we picked up our Wicked Camper up last wednesday which we love her name is Marge she is a beaut.
We first headed up to Port Douglas which was a lovely place and we managed to park right by the sea on Four Mile Beach. It took us about an hour to get there from Cairns, but it was a really nice drive along the coast, lots of beaches on the way. We Stayed up in Port Douglas for two nights with our other fellow campers Rich and Amy, who we ended up spending the 4 nights with. Anyway we just chilled by the beach during the day and played cards with a few beers in trhe evening which was pleasent. The sea tempreture up there was 27 degrees so really easy to swim in and there was a netting area to swim within to keep you safe from box jellyfish. your probably wondering how we showered and stuff but we just used the showers on the beach. haha. Port Douglas is a sweet little place with a few nice resturants and bars, but we always stayed at the beach, we had our first ozzy barbecue which was lovely, everywhere in Oz has barbecues on all there beaches so its proper handy. So after our two nights there we decided to make our way up to Daintree Forest and Cape Tribulation National Park, which is around another hour from Port Douglas, we stopped at Daintree for arond two hours where we went on a River boat tour to go and see some crocs, unfortunatley we only seen one but that was good enough for us. After we had some lunch we headed over to Cape Tribulation we had to get a little ferry over there just like the one in Cowes on the island. Cape Tribulation is one of the oldest rainforests in the world and is the only rainforest that meets the coast, so some interesting facts for you there!! it didnt take us long to drive to the top but we took our time stopping at some lovely beaches. Our favourite find was a swimming hole we found by a local shop it was gorgous and the water was really clear and cold just what you need when its over 30 degrees and you dont want to go in the sea incase you get eaten. there was also a rope swing over the water which we all loved, there was also lots of fish in there. that evening we stayed at a campsite where we had a proper shower, that evening the four of us consumed around 8 litres of goon and it got very messy but an excellent night with lots of laughter and nuttyiness. the following morning felt proper awful and it was so hot, and me and dan had been eaten by mozzys. Anyways we decided to head over to the swimming hole again where we all got rid of our hangovers. Rich and Amys friends turned up Ian and Kym so we had a propa little camper crew, however our camper is a heap compared to theres, but we love it. drove around to some more beaches and seen some wildlife refer to photos. Headed back to Port Douglas mid afternoon annd chilled out for the evening. Came back down to Cairns yesterday to come and see our mates from the house and we had one massive barby with lots of beer, it was great. Today we are going to book our Whitsunday and Fraser Island tour and will be heading down to Airlie Beach ither early this evening or tomoz morning. its around a 6 hour drive. Will speak to you all soon. Airlie beach will be where we pick up our Whitsunday cruise boat.
love from oz
