New Years Day at Parque Nuesa. Lina and I had had enough of Bogota so we decided to head out to Parque Nuesa, about 1 hour drive from Bogota. It wasn't well sign-posted and after seeking directions a couple of times we made it. For the grand entrance fee of 50p we got to go and walk by the lake shores, sit down, rest and breath in the fresh air. The shores of the lake were nice, a calming rippling water edge made for a relaxing stroll and the beautiful flowers along the lake shore caught my camera and begged for a photograph. The only 'stressful' event was crossing an unstabilised wood bridge with a fall of 30cms begging for the unwary traveller. Oh and wet feet.
An hour of relaxing on the lake shores and we decided to head around the lake. Although Colombian dirt roads are not famous for maintenance, these were not too bad and headed around to a small trout restaurant by the lake shores. We decided to stop for lunch, ordering the Trout dishes as they were their speciality and had a pleasantly presented trout and side salad. I can definetely recommend the restaurant!
Apart from the excitement of the bridge crossing ;) it was pretty much relaxing and taking it wasy for the whole day, good to escape Bogota, although the traffic is virtually non-existent, everyone having left for the countryside so the town is pretty quiet at the moment.
