Been a while i know, apologies, just annoying that i can{t add any photo{s...at the moment....ie to jog my memory.
i believe the last one was just after new year and i was on my way to torrs del paine, which is a national park, it was stunning. did a trek up to see the three towers, which the weather was shocking so didn{t actually get to see them but the walk was good and good to do some excercise and get some fresh air.
from here we went down to ushuaia, the most southern city in the world apparently, however have heard contradictions that it{s somewhere else but hey ho, it was close enough to me. as you can imagine, being so close to antartica it was absolutely freezing, not so much the air temperature but the wind!
we did a boat trip out in the beagle channel from here and saw a bunch of sea lions, birds and penguins, which i have some good shots of actually {p-p-p-pick up a penguin{ penguins, but guess you{ll just have to wait for those. the boat trip was late afternoon, and after this we went to an all you can eat steak house...oh my god! lets just say no need for salad or side dishes! had some massive joints of lamb which was a nice change and really tasty.
the following day we should have gone for a trek in tierra del fuego, land of fire, which is named after the fires that the indians used to light, but the weather was awful again, and raining a lot and incredibly foggy, so the pictures i have are actually from in the truck from when we drove out of there.
after ushuaia we had two ver long days drive with a bush camp in the middle up to puerto madryn, and you would not believe the temperature difference, altho i guess it{s like driving from england to spain...but the other way up. it was incredible! puerto madryn was where the welsh first settled although so evidence really left of that, apart from a few welsh dragons painted on walls.
we had adams 21st on the drive up to p.m where we had a few drinks on the truck, wore party hats, made a donkey for pin the tail and also a pass the parcel. met up with a couple of the other trucks from different companies when we got there which was nice. had a bbq that night which we didn{t eat until about 10 and then went out into town about midnight. went to a bar first then ended up in a club at 2 o clock....and we were still the first on the dance floor, lets just say people were still queing to get in when we left just after 5 and there was absolutely no room to move by then! crazy!
the following day i heard news of my second newest addition to the family, a niece called emily, which made my day, but also made me kind of want to be at home, also with hearing that my grandad wasn{t very well. it was harder than when my nephew was born, as knew i had ages to wait then to meet him, but now it{s pretty soon so it{s frustrating, although i also don{t want the trip to end, so it{s all very crazy!!
anway, so that day we took advantage of being back in the sunshine and spent a good session down on the beach catching some rays! following day we took another two days of very long drives, about 1400km, to get up to buenos aires, to which we arrived yesterday....and it is boiling!!!!
we went to the best recommended steak house last night, to which we didn{t arrive there until 10 o clock, and then had to wait an hour for a table, but believe me it was worth it! today we then had a girly shopping day which was brilliant! so nice to have some different clothes to wear...and some heels!!! bring on the carnival! and also means i can ditch some of the tops that i have that are just inground with dirt and falling to bits! gotta love wearing the same sets of clothes for 3 months straight! this evening we have been to a dinner and tango show, which had free wine,(so apologies if blog is a bit wordy!) it was fantastic, and well worth it!
tomorrow we are doing a tour of the city on bikes then hopefully going to visit evita{s grave which should be pretty interesting, and then on friday we hope to go down to the harbour for a wander around.
we leave b.a on saturday and i believe we go straight up to iguazu falls before entering brazil, and then the carnival will be here before we know it....cannot wait! and we{ll be in a bed again! so nice to be sleeping in a bed at the moment, after 25 days camping!
so hopefully get another blog in before rio, if not be in touch then, when we have a week in the sunshine, but also the end of the trip :-( doesn{t time fly!!!
speak soon
