Founded by the King of Leinster in 1148. So looking good all things considered. A cistercian abbey it would have had many outbuildings etc for the monks' community - but only the church is left. It was closed when Henry VIII went on the warpath in 1536, briefly had a protestant church inserted in it in the 1815 but that fell to ruin by 1883 and only the tower remains.
