Just got into a very nice but pretty expensive cafe (only one on island) so apologies if a lil snappy!!
After finishing with chiang mai which i can now spell correctly, we got a bus (10 hours, no room, literally for our long english legs) to bangkok with the intention of getting another overnight train, however everything went t*** up.
Ended up having to get another 8 hour bus to champong - we didnt have anywhere to stay in bangkok so stayed in the huge air conditioned shopping mall - this was amazing, biggest mall i have ever seen (and i thought the canadian ones were big!), course everything was more expesnive but we did pop into the imax cinema on the 5th floor, where we stayed while waiting for the bus. From 10 hour bus to mall for 12 hours to another 10 hour bus with no shower in that heat, we really got to know eachother in ways we wish we didn't!! Ha.
Anyway second bus was truely an experience, we got the 'VIP' area which we felt was dead lucky as we booked couple hours before. After the first hour we realised we had to share with a huge infestation of cockroaches which appeared from within the seat cracks - flip flops in hand we went to war on those little b*****s and soon enough were surrounded by even more. It was a fun nights sleep.
Eventually got to the ferry port, 3 hours later ended up on koh tao island which is literally like living in a postcard (check photos, will be more later as only just arrived here). We've got our gorgeous beach shacks, pretty basic with just hole in the ground but who the hell cares we're on the sea which is like swimming in a jacuzzi. As i stare out of the internet cafe's window which is on the beach the sea is dead calm and clear as day - there's a boat called 'buddha view', i love this place.
Tonight we plan on going to the little bar on the water which is on stilts, get drunk on a bucket of spirits and jump in a hammock, tough life aye!
