Day 11 No mistaking it's Dragon Boat Racing Day today. We're woken by the PA system and beating of the drums from 0830. As luck would have it we don't have to get dressed or face the heat to see the boats as we have a great view of the Shing Mun River from our hotel room. There are 150 teams competing here alone! There are other events at Stanley, Tai O, Aberdeen and Cheung Chau. Crowds are forming on the other side with plenty of umbrellas, for UV protection ...

Day 10 It takes some major persuasion to get Kai out of bed to join us today. Luckily he can be ready in 5 and it's only 5mins via bus to Shatin New Town Plaza where we are meeting dad. Tomorrow is Dragon Boat Racing Day and so we're going to Tai O; a fishing village steeped in tradition. Today they will be carrying statues of deities on boats to temples but we will never be there for that. First it's the E42 bus to Tung Chung and start of the Ngong Ping 360 cab...

Day 8 Time to leave Hong Kong Island and move to Shatin which means cramming all our stuff and some, into luggage for checkout. I suggest we explore east on the tram and go to the last terminus Shek Kei Wan. I didn't know that a "hot weather warning" was out, ie. 33c. We use the complimentary shuttle bus for the first time to Time Square before boarding the ting ting. Yes it's hot and steamy and crowded as ever! So the plan was to get up early ( for us ) and catch the #15 bus to The Peak from just outside our hotel, on Queen's Road East and get to McDonald's in time for breakfast. When we get to the lobby, we see typhoon signal No.3 is hoisted. Oh well, all adds to the adventure on the best hair raising bus ride ever, hair pinning up to the top. But we're in the clouds and can't see a thing, they don't serve breakfast or choc thickshake here and prices are hugely inflate...

Day 6 so I thought we'd take a tram from outside our hotel to Sheung Wan to see the old traditional shops of Hong Kong. Kai said it's the most boring day yet! He does not share my sense of culture but to be fair, he hasn't grumbled much. Pictures to follow as battery about to die!
