Well today started of cloudy and gray.I set off from the hotel at about 8 am and headed off the way I had come, much to my sat nav's annoyance.Eventually we saw things the same way, I thought the voice had gone into a strop as I could no longer hear it, alas it was just the cable to my helmet was not connected properly.Thinking of which, I hope they never put AI into these navigation devices, or the man's voice will not be paying attention and not know where he is going, and if you miss the woman's instructions, well that would be the end of any instructions, I assume one of the last sentences would be: 'If you are not going to bother to listen then I am not going to bother telling you!"
Anyway, back to the journey.Very nice scenery all day hills, valleys wooded clearings, you name it I saw it today.Did I take any pictures... did I heck as like, there are too many miles to go before I can think of stopping for pictures.Wanna see pictures? There is a whole t'Interweb out there to search for them. The fuel gauge is now becoming more accurate again, I still can rely on it, but it is almost back to doing what it is supposed to do.
I have had to opportunity today to do whatever speeds I like, yet chose to sit at about 75mph, which believe it or not is the speed at which most of the other drivers were doing, with the odd exception, flying past at well over 100.It is at times like this I wish I was riding the other bike to see what it really can do.
Talking of roads and Germans, what is it with these roads, do you Germans have a fetish for roadworks, they were every 10 miles or so today.I was sick of the sight of them.
Anyway, I arrived in Dresden at about 2 or 3 and was directed down what looked like a deserted road, with the hedgerows overgrowing the road and the road surface looked like a blind man had made repairs to it.This was the good part of the road, soon it turned to cobbles, with repairs made from tarmac!??!The buildings aligning the road were old buildings long since abandoned, looked like they had been built about 65 years ago (if you know what I mean).I started to wander if the hotel I had booked was to the same poor standard as the one in Essen. At the end of the road the hotel appeared (as if by magic) and I am happy to say it is a very nice hotel.
I have also taken a walk around the town, nothing much to say about it, pretty, but quiet, apart from the toddler screaming below my window.Wish it would shut up.
Tomorrow is Poland, the 1st new country for me.I hope it lives up to the hype, and yes I will be watching for random manoeuvring from other road users.
