Overnight we heard lions roaring so we knew the predators were around. After breakfast we headed out on our walk exploring the western side of the park. We dodged and watched Ellie's without them knowing we were there - the favourable wind and trusty dust bag made sure we were invisible to them. We set off just after 7.15am to walk to fly camp 12 km away - our luggage followed on behind with Noelle. It was a lovely walk; we passed giraffe near camp, saw Ellie's trumpet and run upset by something - we searched for lion but couldn't see any- we then crept up on a warthog - who ran off tail erect when he finally sensed us ( today's photo),saw a big male eland who predictably ran off when he finally realised our presence, saw several bands of banded mongoose...

Today was our last walk to the east. We walked along by the river - and luckily saw a big bull elephant who was hidden but the swaying leaves gave him away. Our bird sightings list is growing we are slowly marking off species from the list provided by Moli in the room - with the bigger & easier species seen we are now starting to concentrate on the smaller harder ones - today we saw the violet backed sunbird, black cuckoo, Boheims spinetail and the grey back...

Moli informed us that today's walk was going to be a bit longer and probably hotter as we were going to head up a sand river to see if we could see kilpspringer, hyrax and perhaps hyena which sometimes den or rest in the rocks.
