Just to let you know that we are still alive and healthy. We booked the Machu Picchu trek - 4 days, 46km walk - today. Head off on Sunday so Jordan will maybe provide bit of an update on things before then.
Jordans Mum
I had a few lines on facebook tonight from Jordan saying they had stayed with a family and were wearing poncho's etc and that they were moving on again tomorrow. So hopefully we will hear from them soon he must be feeling ok thats the main thing? Lets hope there is no more hiccups. Not sure about the beards though, if they keep them going for the next 8 weeks they will look like arabs by the time they come home. I hate beards? Hint hint Get a shave boys!!!

I´ve been seeing a bit more of Arequipa, visiting a few tourist things. But mainly trying to save money so I can then spend more later on. There´s a few bars but I don´t think Arequipa is a main place travellers go out, it seems to be predominately locals.
The temperature is glorious during the day with not even a hint of clouds, which is crazy when you think it is their winter; at night it does get cold however.
The hostel is nice although a bit quiet. I did try to book a place in a more lively hostel while Jordan is in hospital but unfortunately they are fully booked.
While I´m talking about Hostels, just to give you an idea of how cheap things are out here - I am currently paying roughly 4 pound per night for accomdation. This includes an egg, two bread rolls and a tea in the morning!
There is no beach near by as we are in the mountains! The beaches will come later when we hit Ecuador and and Colombia.
Jordans Mum
Spoke with Jordan last night as phoned the hospital thanks Mike for keeping me informed as it was great to talk to him. It could only happen to Jordan he always is the one who gets injured at Rugby and if anything can go wrong it will go wrong for him? Bless his little cotton socks he needs his Mummy to look after him!!! I am glad he was not on his own as it could have been alot worse if there had been no one there to make a decision for him. Thanks Mike ,look after each other thats what good mates are for and be extra careful even ice in your drinks is dangerous in these countries the hygiene is not up to the same standards and with the heat and poor conditions it makes it double trouble. Take care both of you. Please keep me posted about Jordan xxx

Hi Mike,
Sorry to hear about Jordan and you are right about Mum's cooking, it's obviously given you a cast iron stomach! What are you doing with yourself while Jordan is in hospital? Are there any pubs and clubs where you are? When Jordan is out of hospital and you are back on track with your travels, you will have to give him a piggy back until he is fit again! A lesson learnt, watch what you eat and drink!! What is the temperature like, day and night? Is the accomodation good, bad or indifferent? Or are you sleeping on the beach? It is cold and pouring with rain here today. Keep in touch and take care and tell Jordan that we hope he is well soon. Love Dad x
