Flew to Cebu shortly after midnight then took another flight to Caticlan a couple of hours after arriving in cebu. 5 minutes on a tricycle, 10 mins on a boat and another 30 minutes on another tricycle (P300 later), we finally arrived in alta vista Boracay.
After a buffet brunch, tool the free shuttle bus to station 2, grabbed some supplies (breakfast and water) then went back to hotel. Then took the shuttle bus back to station 2 and met up with the team on the beach for db training. Went back to hotel to get ready for parade/opening dance routine. The parade/opening ceremony was fun. There were free beers and boracay rum so needless to say, the party got better as the night wore on. We ended up at summer place for more drinking and dancing and I had my first shirt swap experience with a girl from the hong kong team.
Saturday... Hangover... Thank goodness I only had one race! It was a 500m race and the barbarians came last in just about all the races. But the girls managed to place second in a second repechage which meant we actually qualified to the minor finals which we came last in. Dinner was grilled fish (picked the fish to grill), calamansi juice and San Miguel light. I left kev with the others to get an early night as I had a cold. Kev and others went to a place called area 51 for more free drinks. Party at that place failed.
Sunday races were more successful. Either we were better in 250m races or we just started gelling. The final party was fun. Ended up dancing in the rain in my swapped tight bumshell singlet!
Spent Sunday walking around the beach and did a bit of island hopping. Place we stopped at for snorkeling sucked though... Little coral, very choppy waters! We then went to a nice beach which was out hotel's supposed private beach! Flew a kite, swam a bit. Dinner at Gerry's grill (spent about P500) then P40 beers on the beach with awful karaoke to entertain us.
Monday was stand up paddle board day :) It was fun learning that I could do it! We then went back to our hotel to enjoy the infinity pool and the broken jacuzzi (no bubbles). Dinner back at station 2, bought squid, prawns, eggplant, kang kong, string beans and okra from talipapa and had them cooked at a restaurant nearby. Total bill, with a beer was P500)!
Left boracay after 2.5 hours of sleep to start the malapascua bit of our holiday :)
