We drove called something called the Atherton table lands which is a very beautiful drive. It starts with a very steep climb up a tiny windy road till you get to a superb view in a very tropical setting. When we got to Karanda at 12 we found that there is a market on! This was really brilliant, it had such a brilliant Kangaroo goods store. Seumas and I got a pelt each, and some other fun things. Then was lunch which was a crocodile curry! It wasn't anything spectacular but definitely worth a try!
After lunch, Seumas' second cousin texted her address and we headed over for her birthday meal. She has 2 young children and a really great boyfriend. Their house is in the middle of a rainforest and was just so brilliantly hippy! It was really interesting to hear their points of view and how they lived. One of the things they were really into is coconuts. They had a special way to dehusk them and used them for everything! Then Seumas and I lit a fire to cook a fish James had had caught on the reef the previous day. Then their two friends came over and we all sat around chatting about loads of really cool things (some that I think didn't have mmuch backing them up scientifically but I didn't want to offend.
The fish was really excelent and so was the vegetables and cake! A very excelent evening.
The next day we got up fairly early to have a breakfast of grated coconut and lots of other yummy natural things. THen, we all went for a swim in the rivver nearby, very cold! Now to head off to Atherton.
