Hello everybody, how are you all doing? I know that it has been so long since I last wrote a message, Gemma has let me know enough times, but I have been so so busy recently. Since i last wrote we have been in Bali and are now currently in Cairns in Australia.
Our stop in Bali was interesting, we got in about 11.30 at night and we hadn't got any accomodation booked so that was first on our agenda. We only thought we were gonna be there for one night so just got into any place with a bed, turned out to be a staggering 1 pound fifty a night, ridiculous. The next day me and Andy went to Ubud, a mistake because once we got there we realised there was nothing to do. We got in a taxi, therefore, and went to Padang Bai, a little port village where the ferry leaves to Lombok. We spent the afternoon there which was so nice, there was a tiny little beach situated over a hill and it was so nice. Very hot indeed, i rushed out to buy a second wife beater.lol. I know that it is quite boring to hear, but for dinner we had this amazing tuna steak and chips and vegetables for 80 p. It is so cheap out there, it isnt peak tourist times and after the bombs, apparently it hasnt picked up quite as much again. But when you are there, it is like paradise.
The next day we caught the ferry from Padang Bai to Lombok and then from there went to Gilli Travang. It is this tiny little island where there is nothign to do except lie on the beach, snorkell with turtles amd in the evening chill out drinking some beers. Everyone is so chilled out there and when I get a chance will put some pictures up of paradise island. Andy and I stayed on the island for another couple of days, it was so nice to just chill out for a while, sleep in the shade for a couple of days. The sun was so hot though, you felt like u were frying if u stayed out in it too long.
After that me and Andy caught a ferry back to Kuta, the surfing place of Bali. The girls had already started having lessons so when we joined back up wth them me and andy just joined on their lessons. It was so much fun and I have to admit that i stood up on my very first wave!!!! But then fell down on many more so it all swings in roundabouts. It was so cool though to go out and it is so much fun, a really good way to spend time on a beach. Sara is a pro at it. The instructors there were awesome and really friendly, infact everyone in Bali was wicked. The streets were really cool, we were staying in this place called Poppies 1, and in the space of about 100 metres there were about 10 convenient stores, you would think it was crazy but i think i probably visited most of them at sometime, sometimes all of them on my way home after a night out.
After Bali, which absoluteley flew by, we visited Lisa, Mari and their family in Perth, which can i say, if u are reading this, thank you so much. It was such an amazing time and all those stories of Perth being such an amazing place is true. They were kind enough to set me up playing tennis twice, once on a grass court, which was really good. As welll as this they took us over to Rottnest island, (Roddo) as the Aussies pronounce, no T sound u see, and that was so cool. cycling round the tiny island, snorkeling on the secluded beaches, it was so fun. Perth was an absoultely amazing place, so chilled out and the people are really cool. The place we were staying, Lisa's house, was in a small little residential place, a bit like New forest drive. Everyone knew everyone though and all their friend were in a 10 minute radius. When I went to play tennis at the grass club, when you chat to the men at the net, you realise that everyone loves sport, all sport. The guy who took me, Pete, said it is true everywhere and so far it is defintely true. Its cool.
So yesterday we flew out to Cairns, a stop start flight, stopping off at Melbourne, Brisbane and then Cairns, it took doub e the normal time, but it was really cheap so I am not complaining. Sara couldnt get on the flight so is flying out tonight to join us. Last night we went out on a drinking bus around Cairns which was a good introduction. It was mexican night so we all had our sombreros and fake tashes on. We are diving on the reef tomorrow which should be amazing, unfortunately Lauren has a bad ankle, a cut got infected, but hopefully it should have gone down by the time tomorrow comes. I can't wait though, it will be so much fun. Something I will trully never forget. After that the plan is to travel south,. to Airie and then to the Whitsundays before meeting up with our friends we met on tour in either Frazier Island or Byron bay. I may have a few more surf lessons there, see how the money is doing.
anyway, that is about all I have to say now, except look at the picture above, that is where I am going to be diving tomorrow. Think about me and pray I don't get eaten by a shark or killed by a sting ray. Hope everything is good at home with everyone. love you.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
