Wahey we're back at the beach and its time to go surfing again! Awesome! The trip from Melbourne to Sydney was an overnight bus journey and as my travel luck would hold out I was seated behind another aussie weirdo! He was about 30 stone and had the worst manners in the world! To be honest I think he was one sandwich short of a picnic! He kept on having these coughing fits and then had such a bad one he gave himself a nose bleed! He would ask girls if he could sit next to them and chat, needless to say he was turned down! When it came time to sleep he took off his shirt and slept across 2 seats putting his feet on a girl that was sitting across the aisle! Weirdo!
Anyway I officially have the worst cold in the world and I was prescribed some pills at the pharmacy that sends you to sleep so I woke up in Sydney ridiculously groggy and with a mouth like ghandis flip flop! We were dropped off at Central station and then we had to walk down to Circular Quays, surfboards, bags, food you name it! It was the worst 30 minute walk ever!
Finally we arrived at the quay where we took the Manly ferry from Wharf 3. Luckily we found the hostel pretty easily and we checked in. It was back to bed for me as I was rough as! Our hostel was awesomly located, 50m from the beach and just off the 'Corso' the main street! The only problem with the hostel was that it was so loud at night! It was party central but to be honest I was trying to save some money! Don't get me wrong, we had a couple of beers one night!
We spent most of our time in Manly chilling out on the beach and surfing. The surf for this time of year was epic! We were surfing the south styene which was just next to the pipe and the left handers that peeled through there were epic! I had a couple of pretty intense hold downs! At one point they closed the beach! Whilst we were staying in Manly Tom Shaw came to visit! I was nice to see a fellow Guern. When he arrived, our skrimping went straight out the window! Spent the time in Manly surfing, chilling out at New Zealand (the smoothy shop) and then more surfing.
We went to the cricket which I was really looking forward to, Australia v New Zealand. It was awesome atmosphere with someone getting caught out on the second ball! It was all going well until the rain came in! It was rubbish. It eventually got rained off and then cancelled! At least we got out money back!
Off to the city next :(
