We made it, after a big ordeal of national buses, local buses and ferry crossings but after nearly 2 days travel we made it. We have a beach front bungalow about a 5 minute walk down a bludy steep hill down to the secluded private beach with a few other bungalows like ours. At only a 5 pound a nite for the room who can complain? One direction has a jungle and the sounds of birds and crickets, the other a view out to sea and only the waves crashing on the shore to disturb the silence.......and me!
Very hilly on this island so hired a scoote for couple days to get us about, as a mission to the closest town (45 min walk in the burning heat). Met some nice kiwi's and a couple english so been drinking/chatting with them.
Headed off the one of the world renowned 'moon parties'. Full moon party is held on the beach, half moon (which we went to) is in the jungle, and apparantly less touristie. Started the evening with many drinks at the hostel bar, and proceeded to cover each other with u.v. body paint. After getting adequatly merry, we proceeded to the taxi where 19 of us squeezed into a 10 man taxi - much fun. Drinks were surprisingly average priced so in the mood of things, i took it upon myself to get rather drunk and dance like a mad man. With our arms glowing under the u.v's, giant screens with swirly pictures for all the drugys on acid to trip on, and men spinning sticks on fire above the crowd, we danced the night away until 530 wen we decided to call it a night - hannah being considerably less drunk than myself.
Spent another night on the island as didnt fancy choppy seas back to the main land, sampled some more thai food which we are becoming well accustomed too - then set off for bangkok the next day
