Well we left Hoi An and made the long trip by train to Nha Trang. The train was a full days worth as we hopped on at about 1 in the afternoon to arrive into Nha Trang for around 11pm. It was a shocking trip as the place was infested by cockroaches and if you know me wee then you will know that I hate the little beasties! We made the time go by with the old classic Uno and a few other card games between the screams by me from the sights of the bugs. We arrived and today is actually the chinease lunar New Year so on the stroke of midnight...obviously I watched the fireworks from the balcony of the hotel, it was great, two new years in the space of just over two months! The next morning we caught a boat out to sail to a nearby island. On route we passed the fishing port and could see all the fishing boats docked. We anckored down ourselves and had a little swim. The weather here has taken a turn from the better and things are looking up from the very cold start of the north. Nha Trang is actually Vietnams major holiday beach resort and there are many people around taking advantage of the new year holidays. Anyway the swim was blissfull and as we climbed back on the boat a lady appeared what seemed like out of nowhere offering services of beauty treatments. Well I had to take advantage of this moment and had a full body massage and eyebrows threading for the mighty sum of about a fiver! After a deliciouce fresh seafood dinner we headed back to shore and I we were all very fresh chilled out ladies as we stepped off the boat. We did some strolling around and a bit of shopping and headed to a local seafood restaraunt for some classic Vietnamease food of fish and chips. The place was run by an Ozy guy called Bob and after a very scrummy BBQ fish dinner decided to come back here for breakfast as they had baked beans on the menu...Gosh I am easily pleased. All I seem to do is talk about food but again if you know me well the you will know that eating is one of my favoruite pass times and the food is so cheep and yummy, then why indeed not!
Anyway after the breakfast we took a taxi to the Cham towers as pictured. There were alot of local people visiting this sight as they were making offerings and praying to bring in the new year. Did you know that all vietnamease turn a year older in the Lunar new year and not on their birthday. We then made the short walk to the mud baths to get down and dirty. The four of us, anna, jodi, lisa and me all in a tub wollowing in the fresh mud that they pumped in. Then after a rinse into the hot natural mineral spring water and a swim in the pool. Bliss! Its a hard life at the moment. We then took a cab back, looking ten years younger, and I continued the glam factor with pedicure and toe nails painted, all for the costly sum of about three quid.
The next day was a short bus ride, well four hours to Dalat. Sorry to leave behind the sunny town of Nha Trang but we head inland through stunning sceanery along the way. This part if the trip just shows off how beutifull Vietnam is and how different from the hussle and bussle of the major cities. We arrive at around lunch time and head to the local central market. Its not so touristy here and there sale items of choice seem to be the fresh fruit and veg that are grown localy and knitwear. So if you want any bonnets of cardies then drop me a line. It is lovely weather in the day but can drop at night as we are in the higher lands.
We book onto a sightseeing tour of Dalat the next day. The best way to see the area is on the back of a bike with a company called easy riders, however in our unorganised states we couldnt get this so settled for a car for the four of us instead, which was a bit disapointing but will be good all the same I am sure.
