hey all, even closer to crimbo, yeh. Got my santa hat to make me more in the spirit of things. Well I left chilled out Byron bay to stay in a surf camp for a couple of nights. The surf camp is called Spot X off the town Woolgoolga (yes thats what it is called, try saying that when you have had a skin full). The camp is literaly a camp with direct beach acsess. I booked a couple hours lesson for one of the mornings, and go figure that the days that I arrived at this surf camp there was hardly any waves. The instructor said that this was the stillest that he had seen the sea in a long while, just my luck. A few waves did keep rolling in and managed to catch them and I was away. It did turn out to be a good surf morning as it gave me the chance to practice without being drowned and battered by the waves. I hired a board the next morning also to keep up the good work but that was an even calmer waters and spent most of the time lying on my board just bobing about. I left that afternoon for my final stop before hitting Sydney. The next place was Port Macquirie, which is quite a big town on a port of corse with long stretchs of coast. We spent one of the days wondering around the place, walking the coastal track. A long walk! We also visited the Koala Hospital were all the poorly fury beasts are looked after. As usual they were all asleep hugging the trees. Did you know that Koalas sleep for about 20hrs a day and wake up to feed for the 4hrs. Sounds like a good life to me.
The next day was another attept to surf. I can see why people get so addicted to it, its realy good. Such hard work. Me and Rach signed up to do a sunrise surf which meant a 5.30am start...ooch! It was worth it as the sunrise was amazing. We then hit the water, or should I say that the water hit us. The waves were imense! I went from the calmest sea in OZ to one of the roughest. The waves must have been reaching about 5ft and it was so hard to get out from the shore with the current and waves smashing into you. It soon woke us up put it that way. Im sat here now writing this with arms that are ready to drop off! Managed to catch a few waves but I can safely say that the sea beat me on this occasion.
Im off out into the sunshine today to maybe do a bit of shop browsing then have planned to treat ourselves to a Thia meal for dinner so am looking forward to that! Tommorow we leave at 6am to take the bus to Sydney for the festive celebrations.
Enjoy Christmas everybody if Im not in touch before then and have a drink for me. Love lots xxxxx
