So we have headed back to Austria where we had the chance to white water raft and/or go summer bobsledding on an winter olympic track. I didn't white water raft as I have done this before in Thailand but I did elect to go bobsledding. So while those who white water rafted did so I went with the rest of the crew to a small cafe/bar and we waited until they returned. On there return it was an hours drive to get our bobsled on! Very exciting!! We arrived but we were early so we played around on the track whilst we waiting for the bobsled people to arrive. Some people sat on the bitumen. One girl was trying to do leg kicks and her feet went out from underneath her and she hit the bitumen hard (those from Chairo that witnessed my "Look how high I can lift my leg" demo think of that was on bitumen). An ambulance was called and she was taken to hospital to get checked out. For the rest of us it was time to hit the bobsled track. Little Spoon, Will, Apples (Aaron) and myself were mostly giants so we jumped in one and were keen to get a record. We talked strategy and that we were going to lean with the corners. Apparently the course usually takes 1 minute and 7 seconds. So we started out cruisy and sailed around the first few corners, and i was able to move my head just enough to see what way to lean. Then we hit a Uturn bend where we picked up speed and because our view was limited every time you tried to check a corner you'd already be on top of it and have your head bouncing back and forth both on other people's helmets and the roll bars. We went crazy fast and everyones heads turned into life size bobble heads. It went so quick it only felt like 20seconds. They didn't time us so unfortunately well never know if we smashed any world records - because it felt like we did. Haha
Now I don't think I've mentioned much how stunning Austria is! I'll try and paint a picture for you. Think enormous mountains and a valley down the middle, stunning bright green grass, trees lining the mountains and the occasional chair lift or ski ramp. There are houses a fair distance up these hills, very pretty houses with flowers lining their balconies and porches - so cute. The cows are in the fields grazing with there bells around their necks softly tinkering and the air is so crisp and fresh until a smoker from the tour lights up. Such a beautiful part of the world. I was asked what my favorite part of Europe so far was last night and I couldn't answer the question, I have loved every country for different reasons and Austria because the greenery and the gardens remind me of the farm back home.
After bobsledding it was about 6pm so we headed to our hostel in Tyrol, which was a cute little place where I was lucky to get a room with a shower and a toilet unlike others. It was potatoes, peas, carrots and roast pork (or veggie pasty for those who don't do pork like myself). I ate every little bit of my veggies and my body was loving me for it!! We have been fed well on this trip but veggies are not as common as I think maybe they should be. Afterwoods we all went to the bar onsite and then headed out into the quaint little down of Tyrol. This town is buzzing in winter due to the trade that the receive during snow season so it was fairly quiet.
