salaam a likum from aleppo!!

have been 2 days up here in the north of syria after hitchhiking my way up from palmyra, along the way stopping at some famous roman ruins in zabadeyah, a little off the beaten track, in fact so far off the beaten track that when we stopped to wave to a few kids (they always laugh and wave at you) that when we walked off the kids (5-6yr olds) started pelting us with stones!!!

Earlier in the day we left deir a zur, after i went for a wim with a local guy in the euphrates river - very clean, quite fast flowing and warm! from there we took a 40 p bus north and then hitchhiked after gettign dropped off in the middle of nowghere! cars travel quite fast here, i estimate we wre passing cars on teh in side of the motorway at 140 kph whiklst in the back of an open deck truck - quite an experience!

Aleppio is an ok cuity (2nd biggest) with a massive citadel in the centre! very imposiong! am currently hanging out with a french candadian, aussie and swiss guy and am going to push dopwn to hama and and a very good internet cafe tomorrow a good update coming!!
