Let’s go Swimming ,then explore the new parts of town.
Donostia-San Sebastian, Spain
Today we are going swimming but before that the house work has to be done. The laundry Mat open at 7.30 so google maps says ,so like the good soldier I follow the order and of I go. I get to the place and it doesn't open till 9. So I get a coffee and practice my two words of Spanish, ola (hi) and grasia(thank you) ,by now it 9, put the clothes in and I notice that the whole bottom floor of this store is a giant fish market.
Back at the apartment getting ready for the beach Shirley and I decide that prawn rolls would be good for lunch .after our swim. The water is cool and the weather is hot,so it's a good combination. Shirley catches the sun ray ,I catch the little waves as body surfer ,it was a perfect relaxing morning.
It lunch and the temperature has risen quickly it is now 34degrees so we choose to ride the air cooled bus to the other side of town and ride the funicular to the top ,get some great pictures and take advantage of the view and the alcohol. Eventually we come down just got to hot going to the air con and watch Belfast ,thought it was good movie.
Shirley has done some research as well and we are going to a restaurant known as Nestor. It is famous for it tortilla ,and twice a day the first 16 in line get to try this famous dish and this time we were in I know it just egg and potatoes but whatever they do to and that only 16 get to try it makes it taste fantastic . We followed this with the best steak I ve been fortunate to eat . It was at least 40-45mm thick cooked to just over blue ,but will cook more on the hot sizzle plate, a great night.
We head for home and decide we will have a night cap at the little bar directly under the apartment and at cost of € 1.50 it seems like a great Idea. We sit down the people at the next table ask that question "where are you from?" We tell them and it turns out they're from Newcastle , We chat about anything and everything and tell them we will catch up when we get home.
Another day tomorrow will see you then
love Shirley and John
