We have met an extraordinary man here named Redha. He is Kuwaiti, speaks perfect english and has a multitude of freinds. He went to college in Mich.
Yesterday we had lunch at his home along with a woman from Georgia (the country, not the state) and works at the Georgian Embassy as a translator (speaks english, georgian, arabic, and russian), a German that works for the Kuwait navy, a welsh gentleman that works for the Kuwait Oil Co.
After lunch we went to the marina where we met Redha's son ( a pilot for local airlines). His son was born in Knoxville TN and is an american citizen.
Redha has traveled, by car, to every state in the US except Hawaii. He loves to drive. He's driven to Italy, Greece, Georgia from here, by himself, and thinks nothing of it.
You can't ask about anything in his home because it will be given to you immediately.
On his sons boat, while Redha fished we talked about a multitude of subjects. It was great to be back on the water again. Redha's son said that he had never met any of his fathers friends so we felt very priviledged to be there. His son was showing me the water so that Redha and I can take the boat out on our own (Redha is not comfortable with operating it himself.
It was one of our clearest days since we have been here and I was able to get some of the shots I had been waiting for. I was surprised that they came out so well, the skyline ones were taken as we zoomed out to the "fishing hole".
Bye for now,
John and Jan
