Weds.7th Oct.When we switched the morning show on the TV today they were proudly showing viewer's photos of snow in Hobart and surrounding areas it seems it is one of the coldest springs anyone can remember.The drive to Richmond was atrocious with sweeping rain and we dreaded getting out of the car but it actually cleared and was dry for us but cold.We don't mind the cold after all we are English/Australians but the rain is more difficult when you are on the move...

Mon.5th Oct. Long drive over to the East side today. We started out with grey skies and temps. of 12 degrees. First stop was Scotsdale at the forestry commission's eco centre. It's an amazing, strange building which is built to be as eco friendly as possible. The ground floor is a good information centre, shop and café. The hotel is very nice and a cooked breakfast is a civilized way to start the day.The house was built in 1862 for the mayor of Launceston and has been a private hospital before being completely renovated and turned into a select small hotel where they even put a decanter of port in the lounge for guests to help themselves.Just one snag we shouldn't be here we should be in the motel next door.We had booked over the internet through one of the last min...
