Woke up early and walked up Anzac Hill to watch the sunrise. The colours all around the hill were beautiful. Unfortunately there was some maintenance and cleaning being done which broke the serenity.
We walked 4km along the river to the telegraph station and then up to Trig Hill; followed by the cemetery circuit walk. We spotted two rock wallabies, a few grey haired kangaroos, a dingo and some pretty birds; including two kites. We headed back to the telegraph station for a guided talk and then had a look around at our own leisure. Next, we walked the Spencer Hill trail back and then into Alice Springs. All good practice for my marathon sponsored walk in September!
It was time to leave Alice Springs so we took a taxi to the airport. Our flight had a 3 hour stop over at Sydney and therefore we decided to get a train into town and have a quick look at the Opera House before heading back to the airport to fly back to Brisbane. Operation Opera Whirlwind! We made it for sunset at the Opera Bar for a glass of bubbly with oysters and calamari.
Sunrise in Alice Springs, sunset in Sydney and Brisbane by the evening; i'd call that a success!
