When we arrived in Taupo we checked in to a holiday park, visited the AC Baths (thermally heated swimming pools and hydro slides - with Mina and I the biggest kids using them) and then got an early night ready for my skydive in the morning. When we woke up the sun was shining and it looked like a perfect day to jump out of a plane. I was feeling a bit nervous as we drove to the airport for my skydive, but when we got there I actually started to relax. At the last moment Mina decided to join me for the jump, making this her third one. But it was to be her first one from 15000ft. I was introduced to my tandem master Brad, who was brilliant, constantly making jokes and instantly put me at ease. He was teasing me and I was giving back as good as I got. I said later that the fact he was joking so much relaxed me because it made me feel he was confident and in control. Although perhaps pretending the clips that hook me to him were broker when we were at 8000ft was a little too far! The sensation and adrenalin rush were amazing and lasted so much longer than a bungy. And then I really enjoyed the parachute down allowing me to take in the beautiful views of Lake Taupo. After we had climbed down from Cloud 9, literally, we drove on to Rotorua via Huka Falls (rapids and waterfall), Craters of the Moon (thermal steam escaping from the ground), go-karting (pretty self explanatory), and Wai-o-tapo (thermal area again along the thermal highway).
