Hi All, Apologies for the week or so slip in our blogging - We`re again staying with friends which has brought on a different pattern to our sight-see/blog time-line and Wifi availability. We`re about to end our fantastic two week stint in Switzerland, which will be sad as we've mainly stayed with friends and had a good time to look around and get to know places. Due to our timeline and the fact that we've been told that Austria looks a little like Switzerland, we'll probably end up doing a lightning trip through and be in Germany before the week ends. We'll upload the latest photos shortly, but we've spent today at the open-air museum at Ballenberg which has original houses from the 15th century onwards, all in acres of land and set out as a proper village with working reconstructions of pottery and iron smelting etc. The trip around was a good leg workout, and took a good few hours to cover, but we mustered the energy to wander Grindelwald and have a look around the shops. We've also been to Bern and Thun, and have generally been avoiding passionate football supporters all of the way. We've soaked up a bit of the atmosphere firsthand, but I do worry about the availability of hotels and campsites on our onward journey due to Euro 2008 being focused around both Switzerland and Austria. Still it's nice that something else is going on in town whilst we're here.We have had the wonderful company/hospitality of Sarah and her beautiful daughter Alina over the last week, and would like to thank them for having us, and recommend the Mattenhof Hotel/Hostel for a visit in Switzerland. It's a 4 star hotel converted and a perfect place for travellers, with many bars and a nightclub, many nooks and crannies, and a host of interesting people . It's got a great atmosphere and gorgeous surroundings and a place where we've been able to let our hair down for a few nights, which has been welcome indeed. As we now move on we have plans to visit Schilthorn, Piz Gloria, which was the setting for the dramatic end to the James Bond film "On her Majesty's Secret Service", and also go to Luzern where they have some recommended walking tours. We'll get another video blog on shorly for you!!!.Love Jo and Darren
