Que tal!!
again just to confirm, the pictures being put up arent ones i have taken, i have to put some up on each blog from the website. i do apoligise for the lack of photography, it is just hard to upload photos due to the slowness of the internet speed, im thinking maybe when i get back in ecuador (in quayaquill) or in peru, but eventuall YOU WILL SEE THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE!! :D
anyway, i am now in santa marta on the beautiful caribbean coast of colombia, and the weather couldn´t be any better. After a gruelling 16 hour bus journey from medellin (one of many more to come), we made it here at about lunch time. im not lying, but i dont think i have ever been on a colder bus than this!!! i could have died from hypothermia! and whilst amy and charlotte (are adopted french candian travelling buddy) slept pretty much the whole time, muggins here slept for about 4 hours and was awake the rest!!!
but it has made arriving here so much more satisfying as there are beautiful blue skies, vlazing hot sun with a cooling breeze, and the locals are quite friendly (one elderly man even thanking me for coming to see colombia!).
our start in colombia wasnt so great, with pasto being a strange little town only seeming to occupy pastry shops, casinos and shoe shops!! and arriving too late in cali to miss the weekend at a so called party town! but all this was made up in medellin, one of my favorite places so far. the hostel was a proper little chill out place, with a wide screen t.v, bar and pool table, live sports, internet, and a nice little garden (to be honest, not alot of erm...cultural stuff was done here!). and the crowd there was quality, so our first night consisted of alot of drinking at the hostel, and the second of alot of drtinkin in the bar and clubbing quarters of the town (although, one club we went to, was like paying english prices which almost gave us a heart attack!!). all in all a lovely little town and well worth a stay for longer if we had the time!!
so are plan from here is to either meet up with a friend from quito and medellin who is coming up to santa marta today, and may rent a flat off a friend of a friend which will work out very cheap indeed, or to head on to tagunga, a little area of coast which apparantly has no proper buildings and no cars, only hammocks, huts, sea and sand..lovely stuff!!
hope you are all enjoying the minus degree temperatures and the snow in england, its so hot here that i have discovered i can burn, and i can peel!! (which is so disgusting, wacking out the cocoa butter!!).
ciao x
