Hello everyone,
I am in Toronto, arrived here yesterday. I've been for a walk around the city 2day it's huge!! Not been up the tower yet due to the weather, it's been raining and cloudy so not the best conditions.
Right I need to fill you in with my trip around the US so here is my itenary.
Days: 1 Los Angeles & Pacific Coast We follow US Highway 1 - the Pacific Coast Highway - north to Big Sur. Camp amongst the Redwoods and explore the rugged coastline with a sunset walk on the beach.Accommodation: Camping
The coastal drive was breath taking, very similiar views to new zealand. It is meant to be the most scenis drive in america.
Days: 2-3 San Francisco
We visit Carmel or Monterey on the way to America's most charming city and home of the 49ers, Fisherman's Wharf, and Chinatown - San Francisco! Enjoy a full day to explore the city, with plenty of time for shopping, sightseeing and a stroll over the Golden Gate Bridge.
San Fran was awesome, there was so much to see in so little time. On the first day we walked over the golden gate bridge which took about 45mins, it gave us the opportunity for to take some great pics. At the night we took a boat cruise around the golden gate bridge to watch sunset. We had a buffee and there was a bar on the boat which was a bonus!! ha ha On our free day we went to Alcatraz for a audio tour it was facinating and defo one of my highlights to San fran. We took a boat out to the prison and it was really cloudy and spooky which added to the experience. We also went to the most crookest rd in the world (lombard st) and took a tram back to the hotel and then went to watch a base ball game!! Could not believe that both sides sit in the same area, if it was in england they would be smacking the hell out of each other!! ha ha
Days: 4-6 Yosemite National Park & Sierra Nevada Then it is across the Bay Bridge and into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the valley of Yosemite National Park. Hike to one of the magnificent waterfalls, or hire a bicycle to pedal along the park roads. Float down the Merced River, or go horseback riding in the meadows.Accommodation: Camping includedThe national park was amazing, i wasn't expecting it to be as awesome. I did a 20 mile hike up a famous mountain called the half dome. We did about 4,000 feet climbing and on the last climb before the sumit had to use hand cables to pull ourselves to the top cus it was that steep. The views fom the top were fanominal. There was only 3 of us including the tour leader than did the walk. None of the others could keep up.
Days: 7-8 Las Vegas
Back to the modern world with a bang - Las Vegas - the greatest show on earth! Cruise "The Strip" in a super-stretch limo, indulge in an all-you-can eat buffet, take in a show or just watch the amazing crowds, neon and attractions that many hotel casinos have to offer. And if that's not enough, take a helicopter flight down The Strip or just gamble the night away in one of the world class casinos.
Las Vegas was a bigger version of blackpool!! ha ha only joking, i don't think there is a place on earth like it. You will have to go cus it is hard to put it into words, the place it lit up like a big crimbo tree!! ha ha We went out for a meal, had a Limo ride around the city to the light show and water show at the "Belligio" which was out of this world. The casino is famous from the film oceans 11, it was unreal to be there.
Days: 9-10 Grand Canyon
Return to nature, across the Colorado River, to the south rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Nothing you have ever seen before will prepare you for this spectacular site! Hike from the forest above to the desert below, red rock to white powder, take a helicopter or airplane flight above it all, and marvel at the brilliant colours that emerge and blend into the setting sun.
On our way to the grand canyon we went to the hoover damn, could not believe i was there. Thats where a scene from one of the James Bond movies was filmed!!
The Grand canyon was breath taking, the tour leader made us where paper bags over our heads and led us right up to the edge for our big surprise. It was incredible, the oldest rocks in the world believed to be up to 2 million years old!! We camped out there for 2nights on our free day i went to all the cool view points and got some awesome pics.
Days: 11-13 Lake Havasu & San Diego
Visit the current home of the Old London Bridge at Lake Havasu, Arizona, and then it is on to the Southern California city of San Diego. Visit SeaWorld Adventure Park or the world-famous San Diego Zoo, or simply relax on the beach and perfect your tan. San Diego has the perfect environment for so many outdoor activities; rollerblading, beach volleyball, boogie boarding and bicycling... you name it!
Accommodation: Camping include
San Diego is a great city, one i could defo live in. It is so clean and tidy and it is much quieter and chilled out unlike the other cities i visited.
Days: 14 Los Angeles We head up the coast back to Los Angeles and spend the afternoon at Universal Studios and a chance to try some of the newest 'state-of-art' thrill rides marks an end to this classic adventure.
Universal Studios was an eye opener, technology plays such a big role in the film effects!! The rides were surprisingly mind blowing, we went on the new simpsons ride, Terminator, The mummy and went on a tour showing us some of the film sets e.g desperate house wifes, fast and furious, jaws...
Overall my time in the states was an amazing experience i found the people to be extremely friendly and helpfull especially being english they loved my accent and love us. Out of the places i visited on my tour LA is a really fun place to be, there is loads going on especially in the celeb world. The nightlife is awesome!! San Fran has more to offer in terms of tourist attractions e.g golden gate bridge, alcatraz etc.. Las Vegas is a great place to go and party but not a place where you could live!! ha ha San Diego was a place really chilled out and would be a great place to retire!! Up to now the states has been prob the best place i have visited is is so different to all the other places. You really feel like you are in america!!
