On Saturday morning we went along Route66 into the old part of Gallup and looked at some of the American Indian murals painted on buildings. We started today with a light plane flight over The grand Canyon - we were the only 2 in a six seater Cessna so felt like we were on a private charter! The flight lasted for 45 minutes and took us on a fairly big loop over and around the Canyon-I saw rafts on the Colorado River! This morning we set out to visit Sabino Canyon which is about 12 miles NW of Tucson. It is a canyon area that is a natural desert area with many varies of cactus including the magnificent saguaro. We walked about a mile into the canyon and even though the morning was overcast and much cooler than temperatures we've had we still came back dripping with sweat. Today we went to a little town called Bisbee, an old silver mining town south of Tombstone and looked at the old town and many antique and artisan shops there. We headed back to Tombstone and walked around old town. The old courthouse was worth the visit and on the streets we saw cowboys, old saloons and Wyatt Earp. We left Jeff & Julie and San Diego behind this morning and drove east along the California Mexico border through rocky mountains. We stopped at El Centro for lunch and continued on to our destination for the night at Yuma, just over the Arizona border. After checking into our motel - the cheapest yet at just over $40 for the night - we headed downtown to the historic district to find that everything is closed on a Monday.
