Well After the monkeys we looked around the menara tower. Big b*****, but it was 38mr to get to the top so we observed from below for free! We ended up getting a guided tour around the city rainforest and soon realised we missed so much of the cool flora when we took ourselves through, like the velvet Ginger, sandpaper leaf and giant cinnamon. It was cool to me anyway! Whilst in the group we didn't get to see the monkeys so we felt a bit proud of getting those pictures all by ourselves earlier on. Made me feel like David Attenborough! You could feel the jealousy! and the god damn mozzies. We must taste good to the little b*****s as they're very keen to get a slurp. Katie is getting bitten more than me like. Don't think they like the ciggarette smoke. Another excuse not to quit......
So, after eating in a Malasian cake bar(random)and being hugged by a bloke asking if we would still hug him if he had aids (random) and playing chicken on the Malaysian A614 (scary!) we took a walk through china town and chilled in a reggae bar (more like it!) which felt like home. Untill the DJ decided Peter effing Andre was reggae. Home time. A short, slightly wobbly walk to the sardine tin on-a-rail and we were back in what we have come to learn is KLs most popular red light district. Chow Kit.I tried to convince Katie to start utilising her working visa to fund the trip to Borneo but we would have had to spend a week there for a tenners worth so opted against it. ( only joking Pauline)
Joking aside, did some research on the area and tourists don't generally go there as it has a real bad side. There are street kids everywhere with really sad stories. You wouldn't tell by the smiles on there faces. Then again a lot of them are hooked on cheap heroin so not neccessarly smiling through joy...
Back to the joking, one kid, about 7, ran up to us and said "pouta (s***), s*** piss c*** s*** piss f***, what is your name?" we laughed. So did he till his mate pulled him away and said sorry with his hand over the little tykes mouth!
The last night in the hostel from hell was uneventful and the next day we walked around KL again heading towards Chinatown and to Independance square. The architecture was awsome and they had a 'keep KL Green' event going on. A few bands and dance troops etc and there was one American cheerleader type on stage declaring KL was full of "awsomeness". Chuffin numpty. Apparently the square was home to the worlds tallest flag pole. There's a c*** joke there somewhere but I won't.
After chilling at the square,.....actually that's the wrong way to put it as it was bloody roasting,..... after melting at the square for a while we headed to a butterfly park after playing another game of chicken, this time on the malasian M25 (scarier), which ended up being lovely, not the most conservation focussed place but I've seen worse and wouldn't expect less. Saw some huge butterflies and some tiny. (some were just right). Didn't take long for us to get bored of the caged beasts and heading out we went for some grub. Catfish or stingray? Free for all buffet. Didn't look too healthy and so we left under a blanket of evil eyes. (I purposely missed out the part where the drain covers on the street were like bear traps and how maybe the catfish was a tourist called cat fisher who they caught earlier that day, as some of you may have read Katies email stealing that one. Plaguarism sucks but has to be endured.)
It was time to meet Katies family friend Louise at the famous petronas towers and so we grabbed our rucksacks and headed out. After a hellish walk with 20kgs each we touched down and waited for an hour, took a few snaps and melted some more until she arrived.
Arrive she did, and took us 25 mins out of KL city to a beautiful condo with everything we needed. Beer, cheap food, swimming pool and most importantly air-con. It's funny how your priorities can change in a few short days. We spent the next day relaxing by the pool, getting bitten some more but just accepting it as we were now in paradise. Next stop was some food in Jalan India which was cheaper still at 24mr ( about £4.50) for 3 meals and drinks. And then the next day we were off to Kuching in Borneo. Can't wait for that one. Malasia's cleanest city. But as it turns out, another dud of a hostel.
